Blacklist Royals – 1st ROAD BLOG from U.S. Tour with The Goddamn Gallows

The rock n roll band, Blacklist Royals, is currently on their fall U.S. tour with The Goddamn Gallows. While they’re on this tour, they will be doing an exclusive blog for us. You can check out their first entry, after the break.

Chicago is a rock n roll town filled with real deal rock n roll motherfuckers. Being as such, it was the perfect place to kick off our tour with The Goddamn Gallows and work out first-show kinks to a friendly crowd. But afterwards, the locals floated around me in a coked-out tough guy haze. All I wanted to do was sleep.

Day two. Woke up on a couch, covered in cat hair. Loaded into the van and headed east on I-90 bound for the Dark Horse Brewery in Marshall, MI. Now, we’ve played some trippy places before. We’ve played squat houses, gazebos, TV shows, even a german women’s prison – but we’d never played a brewery.  Let me tell ya, it was goddamn killer. The backstage was complete with our very own bar and our very own bartender who was mega-cool and had awesome gossip about shitty bands. Unfortunately, the crowd wasn’t as friendly… We were welcomed to the stage by three hundred crust punks yelling “fuck you!” and “you suck!” and so on (I’m sure you can imagine how our Cure cover went over…).

Like most tours, after a few gigs the days blend together like highway lines – experiences become a constant blur that zooms by way too fast. Crashing in Rochester where Metallica recorded their first two albums… Devin doing his Brian Johnson impression at a dive bar in Kingston… Nigel playing his accordion in front of a government housing project…

This last week has flown by as one cohesive KICK. And now we’re back in the van and on our way out of Providence, bound for the Big Apple, ready for the city to swallow us whole.
