3 By Design – TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, the rock band, 3 By Design, give you their tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1. Eat as healthy as possible on the road. Eating fast food everyday will not make you feel well which will lead to bad show performances. My personal suggestion is to bring a power inverter on the road and use a blender to make smoothies. The cheapest smoothie I’ve found consists of 1 cup of egg whites, 1 cup oatmeal, 1/2 of a banana and water. I keep the egg whites in a cooler with ice, buy oatmeal at Costco, and stop at 7 eleven’s along the way for bananas.

2. Avoid getting sick by being aware of your personal hygiene. You will be meeting a lot of people on tour and shaking a lot of hands. Wash your hands often. I also recommend taking a good multivitamin every morning. Multivitamins in powder form are the best option. They are easier for your system to absorb the nutrients.

3. Be supportive of the other bands on the bill, watch their sets, trade merch with them. It’s important to support your fellow artist and you never know where these connections might lead.

4. Warm up and stretch before every show. Playing shows every night can take its toll on your body. Warming up properly and stretching will help your body recover and help you play the best show possible.

5. Read the crowd and adjust your set list. Depending on the style of band you are in if you are playing with heavier bands then adjust your setlist to play your heavier songs. Be versatile enough to play an acoustic set if you are playing with lighter bands. You don’t want to be known as the band that emptied the room.
