The Resolution Tour brought Action Item, Goldhouse, Paradise Fears, Before You Exit and Hello Highway to Chicago, at the Bottom Lounge for a night filled with awesome music!
“Put your hands up like it’s a Jay-Z concert” were words spoken by Hello Highway. Even though, while they played, the venue didn’t seem to be full yet, that didn’t stop them from putting on a great performance. Playing songs such as “Break Free”, he also took a picture of the crowd, which seemed to be a recurring trend for the bands to follow. Hello Highway started the night off right, getting people ready for the rest of the acts. I would recommend anyone who hasn’t yet, to check him out!
Before You Exit was up next and they made sure to make full use of the stage. With only being in their teen years, Before You Exit are naturals on stage. They kept the partying going playing songs such as “I Like That”, “3 Days”, “A Little More of You”, “End of The World”, “Soldier” and their cover of Hot Chelle Rae’s “Tonight, Tonight”. Bantering in between songs with the crowd really excited their fans. Based on the crowd’s feedback and their energy, I can definitely see Before You Exit headlining their own tour very soon.
Afterwards BYE was done, Paradise Fears took the stage. Opening with their song “Warrior”, they played a more intimate set, continuing with songs such as “Yours Truly”, their cover of Kesha’s “Die Young” and “Sanctuary”. During “Yours Truly”, many of the people in the crowd held up cutouts of paper hearts. While performing, they were all smiles and you can tell they love what they do and love their fans.
Chicago native, Goldhouse, formerly known as Breathe Electric, performed next. Being in the crowd for his set was like being in one huge party. Opening with “Fck”, he played nonstop and even went into the crowd to jump around with everyone. People were off their feet and dancing to his songs. He also played his own versions of Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been?”, and Cutting Crew’s “(I Just) Died in Your Arms Tonight”, which the crowd seemed to love. Playing also “Runaway” and “Last One You Love”, just kept the party going.
The crowd was all warmed up when it came time for Action Item to hit the stage. Playing favorites such as “Good or Bad”, “Defenseless” and “Brave”, they also played songs from their new EP. The crowd really feed off their energy by singing along, cheering, and jumping around. Bantering with the crowd between songs, they kept up the fun. At some points during the night, they brought out drums and they would bang against them in rhythm. When they played “Marching Band”, Sam from Paradise Fears came on stage to sing with them, which was a big hit with the crowd. After they played “Learn to Fly” and left the stage, everyone chanted for one more song. They then came out and said they didn’t plan on it and they apologized to the venue if they weren’t supposed to because of time, but they came out anyway and performed a cover of Coldplay’s “The Scientist”.
Every band that played tonight made it memorable for those who went to see them. I also liked that while walking around I noticed, many younger fans, some even children with their parents at the show. All the members were nice enough to meet their fans and even waited around in the snow and cold to take pictures and do signings outside the venue. If you’re looking for a great show to go to and have fun at, I would not miss this tour if it comes to an area near you.
