Joliet, IL – Mojoes

As a Canadian, every city we visit and every venue we play is a first for me. I remember watching a live video from Mojoes a few years back and wished that one day I could play at this venue. With the drive being only a few hours, we spent our couple of days off in Joliet; all I could think of was how excited I was to play this show. We found a mall, which had a movie theater, a gym nearby and a lot of food selections; a little bit of everything for everyone. After loading our gear at Mojoes, Brandon and I had to get ready to shoot our episode of Bus Invaders. Fast forward to our set; while line checking, you could feel the excitement in crowd growing and growing. We’ve seen some familiar faces in the crowd and some new ones as well. Once our gear is loaded out, we headed to our merch table to interact with everyone.

Indianapolis, IN – Emerson Theater

We arrived at the venue early enough for us to park and write for a few hours. Nick set up the equipment and immediately got into the “zone”. We loaded our equipment onto the stage and started our sound check. The venue’s walls, ceiling, floor, everything was built with concrete, made the sound echo out and it made it difficult hearing everything going on during sound check. But when kids start gathering in front of the stage, it was no longer an issue. Once everything is good to go I try to get some food before the doors so I can catch our tour mates playing every night; I always try to find a Chipotle nearby. After tonight’s show, it was time to say good-bye to our new friends in For The Win. It’s a bummer that it was already time for them to go, but I’m looking forward to the day we play together again.

Kent, OH – The Outpost

I woke up this morning with the feeling that today is going to be great. We met up with some of my family at the show, seeing them fueled me to give it all tonight. After checking into the venue, loading our gear up on stage, we had a short conversation with our new friends in Breaking Through. The location of the venue and the venue itself reminded me a lot of our Clarksville, TN show, a bunch of people coming out to listen to music and having a great time; at the end of the day, that’s all that matters. Only a couple of songs in and I could already tell, this show was the best one of the tour so far. A show like tonight, reminded me why I love smaller sized venues; you literally feed off of the crowd’s energy.

Columbus, OH – Park Street Saloon

With the drive being only a couple of hours, I had the chance to explore Columbus a little bit. After dinner, I headed to the venue and got ready for the night. The venue layout was really awesome, they had a few bars scattered across the venue, the backroom was cozy and the stage had incredible lighting and sound. The room was packed by the time the first band got on stage. As the night when on, kids started getting warmed up. Song after song, everyone started to loosen up and have fun. We had the chance to hang around the venue after our show as we waited for our vehicle and trailer to arrive. Meeting fans after the show is something I always look forward to, their stories, emotions, and excitement reminds me every day why I love to play music. Once the night was over, it was time to leave and spend the next few days driving and catching up on sleep.

From everyone in A Skylit Drive, we would like to wish you all a Happy Easter. We are truly grateful for your support and for sticking by us all these years.
