The rock band, A Skylit Drive, is currently on their co-headline U.S. tour with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, as well as Wolves At The Gate, For The Win and Breaking Through. While they’re on this tour, the band will be doing an exclusive blog for us. You can check out the fifth entry from the band’s drummer, Brandon “Rage” Richter, after the break.
So the morning of Danbury was a usual for me on tour. I usually wake up, pound two bottles of water, take an emergen-c and eat a couple bananas. Being a vegan on tour I found this being my usual morning ritual. Honestly I just hang on the bus for the majority of the day when it’s freezing cold like Danbury was. I shared a dw kit with jumpsuit so my load in was easy, just cymbals and mixer. I do remember it was freezing and uncomfortable! The show was ok, kids were average! I like when the crowd really participates!
Jersey was another cold ass show! This oc guy doesn’t love the cold but I did have time to go down to this lake and enjoy some pretty scenery for a short while. As usual tour is a hurry up and wait situation. You sit around all day, maybe explore a bit if you’re somewhere cool. This was a small bar setting so the show was a bit odd but fun none the less. Kids were cool, some were energetic!
New York.. Always a fun place to visit. We did a venue change so the show was a bit small but hey you’re playing music and that’s what matters. Honestly the nj, ny and providence shows were all very weird shows due to venue changes or venue choice or some reason why we were playing where we were playing. I did get to explore New York a bit and that was cool. By this time we were like ok… Time for some bigger shows that feel like a real big show. That’s what we all want, shit happens tho! Fans have been responding well to our performance and we do give it our all whether the show is shot or not.
Croc rock… Now this is a show a really enjoyed. The promoter was insane and cool in a good way, the venue was nice with good sound and there was a lot of kids. The green room was accommodating with free laundry, showers, workout room and comfortable seating areas for touring bands. Being on the road u live for these places. The kids were cool and I fed off their energy. Performing is my purpose in life so I take it seriously every show. It was nice to meet new fans and fans I had already made from miw. All n all a fun show.
