The rock band, A Skylit Drive, is currently on their co-headline U.S. tour with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, as well as Wolves At The Gate, For The Win and Breaking Through. While they’re on this tour, the band will be doing an exclusive blog for us. You can check out the sixth entry from the band’s guitarist, Michael Labelle, after the break.
04/15/15 – Springfield, VA
Coming back from our 2 days off, we arrived at the venue on time for soundcheck. Tonight’s show was going to be big. The stage was big enough for all of us to rock out to the max. Being sick on tour is not the most pleasant thing. I’ve been fighting this cold for the past couple of days and even catching up on sleep didn’t make a difference. But, of course, being sick won’t stop me from giving the kids a crazy show. I love performing, and no one can stop me from it!
04/16/15 – Richmond, VA
Woke up still not feeling the greatest. The stomach was kicking pretty hard too. We’ve been having problems with our generator for the past few days so we couldn’t cook food in our RV. After having a bite, I decided to hit the gym with the squad today. Hitting the gym keeps us motivated and in shape, getting a pump always has me pumped for the show. Tonight was a close and personal show, the venue was small and tight but sounded really good and everyone was having a blast.
04/17/15 – Greensboro, NC
We played the blind tiger today, for a festival called Rock-it Fest. It was a really cool setup, they had the main stage in the venue and a small stage outside in the patio area. The venue staff were really great to work with. We had some friends come out today, always great to see some familiar faces. I love North Carolina, kids went crazy and knew all the words. Oh, and because of Cookout!! Really excited to hit North Carolina on our next runs!
04/18/15 – Jacksonville, FL
Today has been, let’s say a crazy day. The generators on our RV broke a few nights before so we, unfortunately, had to sleep with an A/C unit. We rolled into the venue a few hours after waking up. The place was very big, the stage was big so I guess you could say there was so much room for activities. Despite it raining all day, kids were already lined up by the time we were done loading in. The room was packed by the time we went on and kids were going absolutely crazy. Possibly some of the biggest pits I’ve seen all tour. So after loading up, we were headed to a hotel room to shower. The club next door had an event until 2am, and with our vehicle and trailer being so big, we were blocked off until the event was over. Finally an hour later, we were able to get to our hotel room in one piece, and get ready for the last day of the tour.
04/19/15 – Orlando, FL
The one thing I noticed with Florida is that it could be sunny outside and in a matter of seconds, it’s raining really hard. As usual, we start off the day by finding the nearest gym. With the show being early tonight, we rushed back to the venue to make it for our 8:00 set. The show was sold out, a great way to end the tour. We loaded up and said our goodbyes. I wish all the bands the safest travels on their way home.
Thank you to everyone who has stuck by our side, despite the member transition. This tour has showed us that our fans want more of what’s to come. With the first tour coming to an end, I’m so excited to hit the road again this year. If I didn’t meet you on this tour, don’t worry, we will, very soon.
