In this Preshow Rituals segment, the hard rock band, American Terror, reveals what they do before taking the stage. You can check out the story, after the break.

I never really thought of what I do before a show as a ritual- more so, guidelines that I try to follow. Notice I said that I TRY to follow. I’m too ADD sometimes to follow through. Most of the things I do really depend on what part of the country we are in. Different climates will change what I do. There are 2 things that are always a must, no matter where I am. Those two things are: no sexual activity before a show and always make sure I have Orbit bubble mint gum. I always chew gum on stage. I might choke one day, but at least my vocal cords won’t be dry and I will have great breath.

If we have several shows back to back, I am good about doing my vocal warmups. Mainly lip trills and tongue trills. You won’t see me pulling on my tongue like some singers claim. I try to stay out of the air conditioning as much as possible before I sing, that shit dries you out so badly. I also travel with a Neti Pot and personal steamer to help keep everything moist, especially if I am in dry, hot climates. The same thing goes for places in winter with the heat blasted.

Lastly, being Vegan, the catering usually sucks for me. I always travel with Orgain protein powder, peanut butter (or almond butter) powder, and Orgain greens powder to make a shake about 45 minutes before showtime. I also get a little caffeine kick with a pre-workout powder by Allmax or half of a Reign energy drink.

Keep up with the band on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
