In this Preshow Rituals segment, the alternative artist, Andrés, shares what he does before every show. You can check out his rituals, after the break.
Shows and venues can provide for a location of partying and hedonism amongst my peers and show-goers. Despite these very tempting attractions, I attempt to be very professional with my pre-show rituals. A compromise is always met. ;)
About an hour or so before our set I begin my pre-show warm-ups. Pre-show warm-ups include warming my finger ups on my guitar licks and warming my voice up with various scales. Behind displaying any skill properly, warm-ups and exercises are key. I also try and sing my favorite early 2000’s r&b jams (Usher, Chris Brown, Trey Songz) to have my voice broken in already.
Professionalism aside, a bottle of tequila or many pas usually get in the mix (Hahaha). Nothing too crazy or too inhibiting to our abilities, but a few drinks amongst the boys, local bands, and show-goers, end up getting mixed with the pre-show rituals! We try to keep things fun and lively for everyone. :)
