Antlerhead

In this First Concert Ever segment, the post-hardcore band, Antlerhead, talks about the story of their first experiences with live music. You can check out the story, after the break.

I’m Ty and I front Antlerhead and my first concert was when my dad took me to see N*SYNC when I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. They were touring on their debut record and I remember the way they freaking controlled the entire amphitheater. I always knew I wanted to do music someday by that age but when I watched them I remember thinking “damn! So THAT is how it’s done!” Those dudes were so cool in my eyes haha. To be honest that wasn’t the most spiritual experience musically but since it was my first concert I was captivated by the energy of a live music atmosphere and I immediately understood all the hype I’d heard about live concerts, which immediately solidified my dream to play music right then and there. I feel like it was kinda similar for some of the other guys too.
Honestly, it seems to be a rather similar story with some of the other guys. We went to our first show, fell in love with that magical energy, and knew we wanted to do that for ourselves someday. Kyle (drummer) had his dad take him to Queensryche at age 12 and Tim (keys) went to The Moody Blues with his mom around that age and we all kinda talked about how we just realized the magic of that energy for the first time and deciding then and there to chase that with our lives!
Obviously live shows haven’t been a thing for a year and I think we’ve all been itching like we’re that same age again to get back on stage and feel that love and connection with an audience again. Currently, we’re working on a record and trying to plan some stuff for the summer and fall of this year.
