Although we’ve only been on one major tour, we have still got some good stories to tell. One of the stories that stands out a bit more happened in Oberhausen, Germany. We arrived in one of the smaller cities we were playing in on the tour (Oberhausen) and didn’t really have any major expectations. However as the clock got closer and closer to the first band, quite a few people started coming in. Apparently, some people had driven up to five hours to see the bands playing that night and it became one of the most successful gigs in our tour. During our set, everything seemed to be going perfectly until about halfway through when some nutter in the crowd started going around hitting arbitrary people in the audience. It took us all slightly off guard but the worst was yet to come… Now Oscar and Ben usually stand quite close to each other on stage and since a lot of the stages are small and they both try to move around as much as possible collisions are bound to happen. Luckily the stage in Oberhausen was one of the larger ones but despite that, during one of the bouncier parts, Ben did a spin and lifted his bass inconveniently at the same time as Oscar’s head was descending from a head bang. The headstock of Ben’s massive 6 string mahogany bass went straight into Oscar’s eye and as you can imagine the results were not too pretty. Oscar was temporarily stunned from the pain which meant we had one less guitar playing, Ben was trying to console him whilst having to play and all the while everyone was just wondering what the fuck was going on. Especially when blood started running from his eye socket. It was frightening at the time but after one hospital visit over night, a list of different medications and a few weeks of recuperation Oscar was back on track. Ben is no longer allowed to stand close to Oscar on small stages.
