The next day, played The Forge, in Birmingham, AL. We got to the venue pretty early and there was an abandoned bank next door that Joe and Evan explored. We talked to some people at the show about it later and apparently it’s something that most bands that play that venue end up doing. There was a pretty small turnout but about 3 or 4 kids sang along and it was really cool. That night we drove to Atlanta to stay with our friend because we were playing the 4s venue, in Kennesaw, GA, the next day and it was about a half hour away from our friend’s. When we pulled up to the show we realized the 4s venue was actually just a really awesome basement. The people who lived there/were running the show were constantly baking and cooking upstairs and bringing down the food for donations and/or free, and there was a bunch of people there because it was (unfortunately) the last show they were having. That definitely ended up being one of our favorite shows on this tour. That night we went back to our friends on Atlanta and slept. The next day, we drove to Savannah, GA, to play this place called The Asylum. It’s essentially a boxing/collegiate wrestling gym that occasionally has shows and outside of how unbearably hot it was in Savannah, it was a seriously incredible time/show. We did a bunch of dumb shit with the work out equipment before the show, a little over a hundred people came, we got a pizza from the promoter, and a bunch of people sang along and went nuts. It was really awesome. We realized we were only 2 hours from Jake’s apartment in Jacksonville, and we were playing The Underbelly in Jacksonville the next day, so we went there after Savannah.
The next day, we woke up, watched Mos Def freestyle videos on youtube, waited for Jake’s horrible dryer to dry our clothes, and then went to play The Underbelly. We were all completely unsure of what to expect because Jacksonville has always been a tougher city to have a good show at in Florida. But about 100 people came out and although some had left by the time we played, we still had an awesome show and had about 10 people singing along. That night, we drove back to Daytona to stay at Joe and Erik’s apartment and Evan was able to go home and sleep in his bed. The next day, we woke up and watched wrestling (again) and the drove to Odessa to play The Goat House. When we first got there, I called my girlfriend and rode my skateboard for about an hour or so and then we just hung around with old friends who came to the show. I can’t think of a number to guess, but there was a lot of people and most of them sang along. After the show, we ended up talking and hanging out/taking way too long to leave, and then we drove 4 hours to Boca Raton to stay with a friend. We got there incredibly late and passed out almost immediately, then woke up the next day and drove to Lake Worth, to play our last show of tour at this bar called Propaganda. Evan’s Mom met us there and took us all to this awesome restaurant/bar for lunch and drinks and that was a lot of fun. A lot of people came out and even though we didn’t really fit the “genre of the show”, a really good amount of people sang along and/or got into our set. After we finished playing we packed up, got one more drink with Evan’s Mom, and drove back to Daytona. We got back to the apartment really late but we made a “celebratory” frozen pizza and shared it/watched even more wrestling. Now I’m sitting on a bus on the way back to my house in Tallahassee and I don’t know if I’ve ever been more excited to see my girlfriend and my dog. This tour was everything we thought it would be and at certain points, even more. Tomorrow, I’m gonna wake up and catch the bus to go work my shitty job at the mall. I’ll also start counting down until the next time I/we can leave. Bye.
