In this Preshow Rituals segment, the alternative metal artist, Bad Plans, reveals what he does before taking the stage. You can check out the rituals below:
Every performer knows the importance of a solid pre-show ritual, and for me, it starts with good coffee. I bring a travel coffee rig everywhere I go—definitely for the caffeine, but also because it’s a part of my daily life at home that I can easily bring with me on the road.
Alongside my caffeine fix, I make it a point to squeeze in a workout before the show. This isn’t just about staying in shape; it plays a big role in my mental prep. It’s amazing how a good sweat can clear my mind and help me shed any lingering pre-show jitters.
When you’re traveling a lot for shows, it’s easy to get out of your routine and feel disoriented, so most of my pre-show rituals involve trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy on the road. I’ve found that a good cup of coffee and a workout are some inexpensive ways to really improve your quality of life and personally put me in a much better position to put on the best show possible.
