Bari Leigh – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

This crazy story from the road was written by the singer songwriter, Bari Leigh. You can check out her story, after the break.

A few years ago, my band and I were scheduled to play Fantasy Fest in Key West. It’s an incredible, week-long event where people wear whatever they want (clothing optional) and parade through the streets in the raunchiest costumes you can imagine. When we got to Key West, we had learned that our room had been given away to someone else, so we would be stranded after the show. Our show didn’t end until 2am and we knew our options were limited due to the festival. We decided to wing it and play the show anyway.

By 4am, my entire band was hammered, we were all missing something valuable (ie watches, wallets, pants, bras, mildly important things) and we just wanted to find somewhere to sleep. We were touring out of my old Honda Pilot at the time and decided that’s where we were going to sleep. Keep in mind, all of our belongings, some of our instruments, etc. were already in the truck.

We ended up making it work — our drummer slept in the front seat, our banjo player slept in the passengers seat, the bassist was on the roof of my car, our lead guitarist slept on the trailer, our tour manager slept on the luggage and I got to sleep under the car with the ants and hermit crabs.

We made it to our show the next night and had a great tour, but I will NEVER forget that night as long as I live.
