Coming up with my dream tour ended up being a lot harder than I thought. I was really tempted to make 10-year-old Ben happy and go with all the pop-punk bands I grew up desperately wanted to be in. A lineup with Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, and Blink-182 would have me going nuts. But now I’m realizing that already existed and it was called Warped Tour…since I can go back in time to whoever I want, I’ll try to get a little more creative.
I can only imagine how cool it would be to hang with Frank Sinatra. Little Ben used to throw on a suit and sing ‘My Way’ in talent shows way back in the day (shout out to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan), and seeing the legend sing it every night would be wild.
Getting to be around Aerosmith in their prime for a few weeks would also be pretty insane. Steven Tyler made a surprise guest appearance at this Opry show I was at here in Nashville and the entire night went to another level. He’s the definition of a rockstar in my eyes. If I was lucky, maybe some of his magic would rub off of me. Plus I don’t think I could ever get sick of hearing ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’. I’d probably lose my voice from trying to hit the high notes at the end though so I’d have to be careful if I’m supposed to be playing a set too…
Childish Gambino is gonna be my last pick. That dude can do nothing wrong. I didn’t think it was possible for the same artist to be behind a funk/soul album like ‘Awaken, My Love’ while also putting out straight up bangers in his ‘Because the Internet’ stage, but he sounds like he was born to make both.
Can I add in a bonus group, The Lonely Island, just so we can have Andy Samberg tell jokes and maybe let me be in an extra in one of their movies?
