Bingx – TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, the hip hop artist, Bingx, gives you some advice for being on the road. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1.) Don’t let the outside world affect your show.
No matter how much you miss home or what kind of drama you have going on you can’t let it bring down your stage performance or how personable you are with fans. You may think “ this isn’t an issue for me “ but wait until your 4 weeks into a 6-week tour, your tired, homesick, haven’t been eating right and don’t feel at 100%. But when you hit that venue, you gotta be the 110% you. It’s an act of will.

2.) Be smart about your habits on tour.
If you smoke cigs? and share with people? you will get sick. Smoke weed and share with people? you will get sick. New city = new germs/colds/flues etc… and you’re in a new environment every night. If you drink every night and break down your immune system? You will get sick. Being sick takes away from your stage presence, energy, vibe and overall impression you make when you go outside or in the venue. Your body is your instrument and your biggest asset.

3.) Give your all on stage every night.
Regardless of how many people are in the audience; give %110. Those 15 fans will be 30 next time you come through that town, those 30 will become 100 after that. Soon you will be bringing in a solid 100 people in every city… for upcoming artists? These are HUGE numbers. That’s how you create a fan base all over the country. Show them that you came to shut down the stage. People remember energy. People run the venues. Venues bring you back. Full circle.

4.) Be careful.
Out of town, out of bounds. This was a problem with me. I enjoy roaming the town, pacing and writing music. You never know where you are at or who you might run into. Don’t think somebody won’t jack your chain or pocket check you if they think you’re an out of towner and you’re by yourself. Just stay with the team and don’t walk around alone.

5.) Bring people on tour that you get along with.
Tour means you are constantly in a cramped space with multiple people for long periods of time. All the little things you don’t know about these people will start to surface. Make sure you get along with them and make sure they are good at communicating. If you are around a bunch of people that are negative, short tempered or irritating/short all day? you will start to exude that aura as well. Your vibe attracts your tribe. Remember that above all.
