Black Pistol Fire – TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, the rock duo, Black Pistol Fire, give you their tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1. Put socks on your rider if you get one. 9 times out of 10, you won’t get them. BUT…when you do it is an amazing treat. Socks often go missing when you’re rushing in and out of hotel rooms/venues and putting on dirty, soggy socks is a soul-crushing endeavor. If you can’t get them on your rider, Bring extra!
2. Whenever possible, save a heavy drinking/party night for those that precede an off-day. Indulge a bit, but there is nothing worse than having to wake up hungover, wanting to die, and then drive several hours in an uncomfortable van, and THEN have to put a show for fans that are excited to see you. The fans come first, and you gotta give them what they deserve, which is the best possible show. And then if you’re off the next day, you can slug them back with said fans whose mind you have just blown with your incredible, hangover free performance.
3. Try to give yourself enough time in the morning for a proper “evacuation”. It’s way better to wake up, have a coffee and get it out of the way then having to go in a gas station or worse, at the venue. That hotel bathroom gives you privacy and cleanliness, qualities that might be missing should you skip your morning turn.
4. Eat as healthy as you can whenever possible. At some point, you’re going to end up having lunch off the Interstate where Fast Food is your only option and having late-night pizza or gyros. Because of this, you should try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can, when you can. You’ll feel better and this will also help encourage those “movements” described in the last tip. Smoothies are good, as long as they not loaded with extra sugar. We eat a lot of Vietnamese food for dinner since it’s lighter and we can get some good nutritious stuff.
5. Find some way to stay entertained in the car. Driving for multiple hours for multiple days in a row can be quite tiresome. We listed to a lot of music, but sometimes you need to give your ears a break. The three of us are HUGE Seinfeld fans and have an ongoing trivia game. We also call 900 numbers and have phone sex on the speakerphone. We’re all pretty awkward, so it ends up being pretty hilarious! Oh and find a podcast or interview show that you like. Marc Maron is pretty good, but a Howard Stern interview can make an hour of driving go by in a second. Hit ‘em with the HEIN!!!!
