BOBI ANDONOV - FIRST CONCERT EVER

Growing up in a traditional Macedonian household, I didn't have much exposure to different kinds of music, artists or live shows. My parents only took me to see artists they were familiar with, so my music taste was pretty limited. But as I got older, my first singing teacher introduced me to a wider range of music. I started going to see all sorts of local Melbourne jazz, indie, and funk bands in different venues around the city. It was a great opportunity to explore different sounds and styles of music that I had never heard before. Then, a few months before my 18th birthday, my singing teacher surprised me with tickets to see Prince live in concert and that's when my whole world changed. I couldn't believe that an artist like him existed. Everything from the stage set-up, the performance, his clothes was made to shock. The way he would jump on his pearl white grand and move like he was still in his 20's. It's still the most unforgettable show I've ever seen. I ended up framing the ticket as soon as I got home and watched Purple Rain the film three times. His music and charisma left a lasting impression on me, and it opened my eyes to a whole new world of music, live performance and what the possibilities were as an artist if you really dedicated yourself to your craft. May 14th, 2012 is one of my most memorable moments in life.
