If I could go on tour with anyone, it would be The Used. In Love and Death was the soundtrack to my agonizing middle school years, and I can’t thank them enough for helping me through such a bizarre, transitional period of life. I carried them everywhere; my small but tight friend group would draw their heart-on-a-noose symbol on all of our school binders, to the point where our teachers referred us to the school counselor.
Not only are they some of my biggest inspirations, but they continuously exceed my expectations with their last few releases.
One has to admire the amount of dedication and grit it takes to push out hit after hit, especially as an emo legacy band with a tough millennial following. I find that folks my age tend to listen to the same albums over and over, especially from the 2000-2006 time period. And there’s nothing wrong with that. But The Used continues to break that barrier, especially with releases like Heartwork.
I also feel as if they’re just genuine people with a lot of passion for what they do. And those are the types of folks I wanna surround myself with. Lineup-wise, I think our sound also aligns with their fanbase, so even though this is a “fantasy tour” — logistically it also makes sense. I think we’d kill it together. Even if I’m on the side stage begging them to play “I’m a Fake” every night if it’s not included on the setlist.
