1. Don’t fight about anything. Ever.  Swallow your pride, keep your temper in check, and learn how to calmly talk things out if you’re angry. You don’t want to make an enemy out of someone you’ll be stuck in a van with for weeks at a time.

2. Don’t eat shitty food. There is an enormous amount of it everywhere you stop. Resist.

3. Book stores, libraries, and museums are great places to kill time in unfamiliar cities. It’s good to stay stimulated.

4. Stop often. And when you do, get out of the van and move around. You’ll be happier for it.

5. Talk to people when you’re traveling. It makes the whole experience much more pleasant, and you can normally pick up tips about your surroundings you wouldn’t have discovered otherwise.
