Oh wow, Dream Tour! What an awesome idea. Hmm… So many different artists have influenced me in different ways, from Western Country to jazz, to blues, etc. However, although I am an Americana artist, I always will be a singer first. So my biggest influences have always been some of the greatest singers to ever live. So to start – I would open :) Then would come Bonnie Raitt, then either Whitney Houston or Ella Fitzgerald (both if I could), and then the headliner would be Beyonce. The genres may not seem cohesive, but in actuality, each genre is connected in some way (for example, today’s pop music would not exist without old school jazz) so it makes perfect sense to me. :)
Bonnie Raitt is the original female bada**. I tend to gravitate towards artists that you don’t expect their power. In other words, if you didn’t know who she was and saw her walking down the street, you would not expect that voice or her ability to rip on the guitar. I waited most of my life to hear her sing “Angel From Montgomery” and the whole world stopped when I finally got to witness it at the Greek Theater in 2016. Whitney Houston feels like an obvious one. I never got to see her sing live, and I wish I had had the chance. One of the most powerful voices to ever exist. Ella Fitzgerald is effortless and timeless. When I hear her sing, I feel like I’m home.
Finally, I would choose Beyonce to headline. I know this probably comes as a surprise that she’d be my number one and I know she sometimes gets a bad rap. However, I have been her biggest fan since high school. She exudes a level of excellence that I’ve never seen, and it is intoxicating. She is an incredible singer and performer, and the amount of hours I’ve spent on YouTube watching her live shows is borderline unhealthy. Over the years she’s been something like a vocal teacher to me – I’ve studied her so much that it has evolved my craft. For example, her diction is always on point, and I have improved my diction over the years just by watching her.
