Callen - DREAM TOUR

In this Dream Tour segment, the adult contemporary artist, Callen, reveals who he would want on his ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks below:

My dream tour would definitely be with, and don’t hate me for saying it, “Coldplay.” They were one of my first concerts as a kid, and even though I was in the nosebleeds, it inspired me on many levels. I think I might have been 9 or 10 years old at the time. This was back when they were still touring on the original bangers they blew up on aside from “Yellow.” They were playing songs like “clocks,” and “Speed of Sound.” I think the album they were touring on at the moment was “X&Y.” That song “Fix You” has close to 1.5 billion streams on spotify alone as it should because it is obviously an incredible song. My point is, I’ve always seen them as a timeless band that evolves with music culture instead of staying the same, and that’s something I really respect and hope for myself as an artist in the long run.

Another artist I’d love to tour with some day is “The 1975.” You either love em’ or you hate em’. Personally, I LOVE EM. I remember when I was in high school and their debut album came out. I couldn’t stop listening to just about every single song on that record. “Robbers” is by far one of my favorite songs of all time. I remember the first time I ever saw them live at Boston Calling when they were still fresh on the scene in the US. I genuinely felt like it was my first time seeing a real rock band perform like a rock band. Every show I have ever seen of theirs, has left me with my mind blown. The theatrics, drama, production, sound quality, banter, performance… Performing with them on tour would ultimately be a huge learning experience. Seeing behind the curtain of how their production works, and how they interact with each other would just be cool.

A third artist, I would consider as a dream tour, would be Avicii. I know that might not make a lot of sense, but let me explain. I actually have an EDM production background before a lot of the things that represent my sound independently. I started off reproducing my favorite electronic songs in a trial of ableton when I was pretty young. I remember the first song I ever reproduced was “Strobe,” by Deadmau5. Youtube tutorials, repetition, and breaking down songs I like, have made me the producer I am today. I still do sound-alikes on the regular to get better. Okay I got sidetracked, but let me explain the Avicii thing now. I remember watching his youtube tutorials when I was younger and seeing how dedicated he was to creating new original electronic music. If you ever saw the documentary on him that was out but then taken down for some reason I’m not sure about, it had the perfect time lapse explaining how locked in this man was. That’s a characteristic that I strive to have. I also have remade several of his songs over the years just to get better and just the little production techniques he came up with have always been game changing for me. This being a dream tour, I’d just go to sing on a few songs and be a part of the experience.
