EDM for me is all about the party atmosphere and inclusiveness. One thing about all my favorite artists is that they don’t take themselves seriously at all, and they make everything a party. My best memories of doing club ragers in LA was bringing out the masks and costumes and bullhorns, and the promoters gave everyone props or inflatable toys or whatever and turned a club full of strangers into a house party full of friends. If I got to choose who to go on tour with, it would be with a group of people like that.
First up would definitely be Dada Life… I don’t think those dudes have ever done a boring thing in their lives. They’re probably not even aware that there’s a setting below “11”. Partying with those guys is on my bucket list and I am not allowed to die until this happens.
The Chainsmokers are my new guilty pleasure and they’d have to come as well. Their music is a little on the poetic side, but their shows are liiiiit. Also, don’t tell anyone, but motherbirding with them at least once is also on my bucket list.
Skrillex obviously has to come #Duh. Touring with him is a no-brainer for basically every producer, the dude is hilarious and a totally awesome guy – of all the big names in EDM I think he “gets it” the most, meaning he’s all about the love and good nature of everything.
Paris Hilton would have to come too, just cause that would be hilarious. You gotta have Paris Hilton DJing.
There’re other artists I know nothing about, but love their music so they’d have to be there… Jane Xø for sure. He/She/They (no one knows??) are a total headphone experience. So is Flume. That dude is an alien – I don’t know how anyone can dream up the combos he does in his music, it’s unreal. I’m a big fan of ATTLAS and Vindata as well – all around just good quality music you can get into.
That prob rounds it out. There’re lots of non-EDM people I dig, but a tour would have to be just a bunch of producers all on one bus. That’s the only way. Sleep all day, rage all night. On to the next city.
