Up The Chain – DREAM TOUR

In this Dream Tour segment, the neighbor-rock band, Up The Chain, let you know who they would like on their ultimate tour lineup. You can check out the feature, after the break.

If you’re gonna have a dream tour, first off you’re gonna need some great bands to play with. For us in Up The Chain, there are some obvious choices: Legends like Stevie Wonder or Paul Simon, or great contemporary bands like Dawes and hometown favorites Dr. Dog. If we’re really dreaming, though, it has to be about the music we find most stimulating. The last year we’ve been really fixated on a few records by Blake Mills, D’Angelo, Kendrick Lamar, Emily King, and Jenny Lewis, so touring with any (or all) of them would truly be a dream. We also love to tour with our good friends in The Dawn Drapes, and you can’t discount the love factor, so they are definitely there.

At this point, you’re looking at a pretty big tour bus, but in our dreams, that’s not a problem. That’s why we’ve got the bus from The Partridge Family with a redesigned interior. All of those miles on the road add up, so we’re probably gonna have to visit Willie Nelson and get the bus outfitted with a biodiesel engine, but again — dreaming, so money is no object. Also I think we could put together a profitable tour with this crew.

Having the right snacks is very important on tour, so the bus would definitely have to be equipped with a cooler of Gatorade at all times (rocking depletes electrolytes), and some heavy duty coffee brewing equipment. Kirby’s cupboard would be filled with kale and shit, Reed’s would be mostly pasta salad and bagels and cream cheese, Noah has a lifetime sponsorship deal with Taki’s, and John exclusively dines on the finest jordan almonds and Sargento pepper jack cheese. Also, one morning while Reed slept in the booth of a bar in Zurich, two cool dudes gave Noah and Kirby the best fresh-pressed juice they’d ever had, and this is a dream, so those two cool dudes now live on the dream bus, which we are tentatively naming Vanfred Vann.
