Chasing Cadence – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

This crazy story from the road was written by the rock band, Chasing Cadence. You can check out the band’s story, after the break.

Back in March this year we headed out on the road with My Extraordinary, Speaking in Shadows and Syren City. The tour was set to be a pretty big deal for us as the pre-sales had skyrocketed, so we decided to play a little warm up show at The Vic Inn, Derby with our friends in For The Kill.

The majority of us started drinking before the show had even begun, but unfortunately Alfie still had to drive the van to where we were staying that evening. After he dropped the van off, he met us in Derby’s most classy nightclub, mosh, where dreams come true and boys are turned into men. Alfie, playing catch-up spent most of his evening at the bar drinking his body weight in Jaeger.

We got a cab back to our friend’s house and set-up up camp on his lounge floor. Alfie and I (Rob) had the same design on our sleeping bags, he was set-up on the sofa, and I was a memory foam mattress on the other side of the room.

At 5am, I wake up with a disorientated Alfie trying to take my cover. I explained to him that he was drunk and his cover was where he had left it, at this point I realized that he was asleep and oblivious to everything I was saying. After some time he gave in and walked back to his sofa, it was at this point I realized that he was stark butt naked. I woke up the next morning to the sound of “Why am I naked??” and he claims he had no recollection of the event. I’m still to this day not sure if I woke up with Alfie above me or next to me, but either way, it was quite disturbing.

On day 5 of the tour, we played Norwich which happened to be the same night as the funeral for a friend Norwich tour date. We were invited to their after party at ‘The Waterfront’ where we mingled with the band and once again drank far too much. The guys headed back to the hotel where I met them later, Alfie was staying with our singer Jack and stage tech Philly, and I was with Frank and Dan.

As I got back to the hotel room I received a message from Jack asking if he could stay in our room when he arrived he said “Alf’s done it again”. It turns out that this time Alfie had walked across the room and stared out of the window (still completely naked), he then proceeded to the other side of the room where he removed all items from the shelving unit and urinated on the floor. He woke up next morning still with no recollection. Alfie doesn’t really drink anymore.
