Chaz Marcus - CRAZY TOUR STORIES

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the pop/hip-hop artist, Chaz Marcus, shares one of his stories from being on the road. You can check out the story below:

I was always a big fan of A Boogie. I started listening to his music when he first dropped on SoundCloud. Around that time, I was also releasing my own music and looking for tours to join. I was fortunate enough to connect with A Boogie’s team, and they gave me the opportunity to open for him on his first TBA tour.

At the time, I was living in Los Angeles, and all my friends knew A Boogie was my favorite artist. Being able to leave town and say I was going on tour to open for him was a blessing.

One of the greatest moments in life is finally meeting your favorite artist and having them live up to the expectations in your head. Boogie was one of the coolest dudes in person.

At every show, I got to be on stage with him and watch from a first-person perspective. The energy from the fans was unforgettable. That tour definitely sparked new aspirations. The crowd knew every single word and sang them back religiously.

After meeting Boogie in the first city, I would only see him on stage after that. He had his tour bus, and I had my sprinter van.

Around the second or third city, I decided to try and hang with him after the show. I remember standing on the staircase backstage, rolling a spliff, while Boogie was about to finish his set. He came up the staircase with his bodyguards, and I said, “Yo, Boogie, you trynna smoke? This the Gorilla Glue.”

He said, “I knew I smelled that GG pack—pull up.”

Next thing I know, I’m in the green room, smoking a spliff with Boogie. I didn’t even smoke, ahaha. I was so high—I just remember him saying, “You didn’t put no fronto in this? Ima roll something up.”

We had already smoked half my spliff, and now he was talking about rolling another one. As much fun as I was having, I was beyond high and couldn’t even talk. So when Boogie started talking to someone else, I pulled an Irish exit, went to my sprinter, and knocked out.

Overall, it was a great experience going on tour with my favorite rapper. Boogie is definitely a big inspiration in my career—shouts out to him for being such a humble dude.
