Chris Cron – TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, the pop rock artist, Chris Cron, gives you his tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

1. Don’t have time to shower/do laundry? Stick a bar of unwrapped soap in your suitcase. Irish Spring is pretty good because it gives you that “dirty, but not too dirty” smell that one comes to expect from a rock star. Zest will get you fully clean, which is too clean. If you’ve packed your suitcase too full, use a dryer sheet.
2. Learn how to change a tire. I am a prophet and I can see the future. You WILL blow a tire. When that happens on I-76 between Denver and Ogallala on a Sunday and you’re waiting 3 hours for a tow truck to come help you out, you’ll wish your daddy had taught you how to do it yourself.
3. Be REALLY NICE to everyone who works at the venue. Really. Nice. They hold the key to your success for the night in their hands; from the sound guy to the girl behind the bar, to the promoter. The rockstar shtick is fine for the stage, but make your mama proud and remember your manners off stage. It’ll go a long way when your bass player inevitably leaves his bass at the last venue and you need them to come unlock the door for you at 4am.
4. If you’re low on cash and you’re starving, here’s how to eat really cheap. Go to one of those travel plazas like they have all along I-95 and raid the condiment bar. Usually, they have lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, and mustard. Sometimes you’ll get lucky with peppers, onions and olive oil. I’ve eaten many “salads” that way. If you go to Wal-Mart (don’t judge) you can get a baguette for a buck and make a ton of sandwiches.
5. If you’re on a tour bus, try really hard not to get stuck with the back bunks unless you like to listen to the sounds of lovemaking mixed with the smell of the bus toilet. The bus is going to smell and be loud no matter where you are, but that particular combo of senses will make you wish you had never dropped out school.
