Chris Leamy – DREAM TOUR

In this Dream Tour segment, the pop artist, Chris Leamy, lets you know who he would like on his ultimate tour lineup. You can check out the feature, after the break.

We start it out with the National Anthem performed by Whitney Houston complete with a marching band, and jet flyover (see Super Bowl XXV). There is no singer that can follow Whitney so the next act would need to be completely different. I think I would go with Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was my biggest influence as a guitarist, and I never got to see him play. As a kid, I was REALLY into lead guitar playing. I went through a shred metal phase and wanted to play as many notes as possible, as fast as possible. I had absolutely zero taste. I will never forget the first time I heard SRV. He had everything: killer technique, incredible phrasing, and so much FEEL. It was a religious experience. Towards the end of his set, I would probably let John Mayer come out and play a few tunes with SRV. With Mayer being hailed as the next guitar hero, it would be fun to see SRV rip over some JM pop hits.
After the JM/SRV smash collab, I would stage a LONG intermission and offer alcohol for FREE. The goal with this would be two-fold; one, people would forget the incredible performances of the previous acts to avoid me being compared to them, and two, they would get a solid buzz going for my set. For my performance, I would be backed by the Roots, as well as a gospel choir. I naturally lean a bit blues rock, so adding a hip-hop band as prestigious as The Roots would create an awesome groove. I also love laying harmonies on records; it would be awesome to see that come alive with the choir.
Next up would be Michael Jackson. The king. I would love to see the MJ of the Thriller era perform, but allow him to play songs from later in his career (you can do that on a dream tour). His set would end with a dance-off between him and Bruno Mars to “Uptown Funk.” I cannot dance so seeing The Best of the Best duke it out would be such a blast.Tough to follow Michael, but I think Queen (with Freddie) is up to the task. They are the ultimate in my book, with huge choruses, big guitars, and soaring vocals, all within incredible songs. At the end of the day, I have been and always will be a FAN of music. All of these acts have been such huge influences on me, even if didn’t get it to play, it would still be a really fun night!
