Ross:
My first concert ever was Jimmy Eat World at Norwich UEA; I was about 14 years old and I went with 2 of my school friends. I remember it so clearly…I was both exhilarated and terrified – I’d never been to a gig and didn’t know the protocol! Everything was new! Fast forward 15 years and I have been lucky enough to headline and sell out the exact same venue on a recent UK tour. It felt amazing to walk out into the crowd before we played and stand where I had once stood! I thought to myself “I saw a drummer here when I was 14 who inspired me to play…maybe I’ll do the same for someone else tonight!”
Sigrid:
The first gig I ever went to and remember vividly was probably a Coldplay gig in Oslo Sentrum Scene. I was about 16 and I went with some friends and original band member Carl and at this time we WORSHIPED Coldplay, so it was a pretty emotional experience! It was packed and I loved it!! I grew up covering their songs and always felt so inspired by them. Funnily enough, as fate would have it – Charlie from Circumnavigate has now been on a stadium tour with them!
Charlie:
My first show was a Level 42 gig at the Oxford 02 – I was 12 years old. Up until this stage, the biggest crowd I had witnessed was in my bedroom whilst I played Bass to the entire Red Hot Chilli Peppers back catalogue to my Mum and Dad.
My first recollection of the gig at the 02 was the feeling of Mark King’s bass rattling my entire body, I remember being amazed at how loud it was and how everyone knew the words to every song. It is safe to say from this moment on the thought of being on stage in front of a loving crowd was all I could think about.
Charlie has since played a sold-out O2 Arena TWICE!
Josh:
I was taken to my first ever gig by my grandad in 2010; It was a rock festival in Victoria park called High Voltage. Here I was able to explore the different exciting music so many had crafted over the years by hopping stage to stage. And everything a thriving, cheerful festival had to offer. The act E.L.P headlined and I remember their keys player not just playing incredibly but also being a great showman and playing these crazy huge synths that looked like something out of a spaceship…This was the moment I wanted to pursue music as a career.
