Clover The Girl – PRESHOW RITUALS

In this Preshow Rituals segment, the pop artist, Clover The Girl, shares what she does before every show. You can check out her rituals, after the break.

We are running about 1 gazillion miles an hour before every show in every aspect- a band of two crazy, sober ADHD people. I’ve actually had to pull back and refrain from human interaction to preserve my voice at least an hour before the show. Undisciplined, I am the type of person who will be late getting on stage because I am too busy talking to your grandma for 40 minutes and making sure everyone feels comfortable. We’ve enforced a lot of different rules recently to help preserve my voice for the highest energy and quality show we can provide. Here’s a basic script of what our pre-show looked like before this.

Soundcheck
Landon: *doing 4 band members’ worth of jobs at the same time*
Bri: *waves* Hey! Hello! Hi… Hi….. Hi….
Landon: WHAT
Bri: Hey Landon

1 hour before the show
Landon: No caffeine today! Great job. Make sure to rest your voice. It’s LOUD in here.
Bri: Oh oka-…. oh m Y G od! A PUPPY!!! DO YOU SEE THIS CREATURE? *talks to dog owner in loud bar*
Landon: ……
Landon: Ok Brianna, let’s find a space for you to put some makeup on and meditate.
Bri: Ok… Do you think chugging a Red Bull before we go on stage sounds like a good idea?
Landon: Wow.

30 minutes before the show, we find a quiet place to meditate and for me to use a steamer for my voice. Usually a car. After….
Landon: Ok Bri, you should probably warm up.
Bri: *paints toenails, responds to tweets, eats a cookie, sings songs from “Frozen”, doesn’t warm up*

Showtime
Landon: 3 water bottles, everything in check, let’s do this. Where’s Bri?
Bri: *Still not to the stage, playing a one-sided game of hide and seek with Landon, “sneakily” drinking Redbull and evil laughing*
