Coastal Club - FIRST CONCERT EVER

In this First Concert Ever segment, Alexandre Hirlinger, from the indie rock band, Coastal Club, talks about the story of his first experience with live music. You can check out the story below:

The first concert that I ever attended was a Switchfoot concert at "The Underground" in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Underground was an absolute landmark of a venue in Cincinnati from the early 2000s until 2018 when it closed its doors. I still remember my high school band playing there around 2012, and I lost my mind as I thought about sharing the same stage as so many of my favorite artists at the time.

I don't remember the exact year of the Switchfoot show, but I remember being absolutely floored by the experience. I was probably around 12 years old and went with a couple of friends and their parents. It was my first time experiencing a full-on rock and roll show... The lights, the (way-to-loud) sound, the band's connection with the crowd, being pushed up closely against all of my friends and fellow concertgoers... A moment in time when the world fades away and all that is left is the music and a shared connection - this feeling of a universal language that lifts us all up. It was an absolutely transcendent experience that I will never forget. I still chase that feeling at every single show that I attend, and I have been lucky enough to experience it a few other times.
