In this Preshow Rituals segment, the indie pop band, The Colby’s, reveal what they do before taking the stage. You can check out their rituals, after the break.

Before a show we all do our own thing to get ourselves prepared, Compa will be hitting any surface he can find with his sticks, Trent will be doing some funky bass runs, Theo will be running through some scales and Jack will be making some weird sounds with his mouth. After that, we all do some stretches and limber up for a good boogy on stage.

There is 1 thing we do together that may sound superstitious but we swear by it and we don’t go onstage until it works, it can take a while, mostly because we can’t stop laughing.

Here’s what we do:
1. We get in a circle and stick our hands out in a position where we can clap.
2. With our hands out we touch fingertips and stare in the centre.
3. We attempt to clap in unison, making one big clap sound.
4. If we don’t and it sounds like popcorn in the microwave, we go back to step 1.

Every time we’ve nailed the clap, we swear we played the best shows.

Keep up with the band on Facebook and Instagram!
