Dream tours have been floating around in my mind for years. I’ve imagined going back in time, solely to witness some of the greats in the height of their game. As wild as those times must have been, my current dream tour would have to be supporting Tash Sultana and Anderson Paak & The Free Nationals. These artists are my modern heroes. The first time I saw Tash, it gave me chills. The energy emoting from her music is profound and I have a lot of respect for the path she has climbed. She taps into that spiritual channel on and off stage, which is something really fundamental for me when it comes to music. From the first time seeing her video playing “Jungle” in her apartment, I remember thinking, I’ve got to meet her!
Joining this dream tour would also be Anderson Paak & The Free Nationals, for obvious reasons!! When I was introduced to the record “Malibu” years back I must have exclusively listened to that for months. After seeing their NPR Tiny Desk, I was blown away not only by Anderson’s vocals while playing drums, but by his band The Free Nationals, who play with the most relaxed confidence I’ve ever seen. I had the pleasure of seeing them live in 2019 and remember thinking from the crowd, whilst tripping, ‘I must play with them one day.’
Both Tash and Paak play with so much energy and exude a radiance which I admire greatly. Not only would it be an honor to share the stage with them, but to get to know such artists and collaborate would be an amazing experience. Oh, and lots of jamming in the green room backstage!
