TIP 1: I would highly recommend starting a list for each city. I like to start my list by adding recommendations from friends or fans of local, legit coffee, and then that usually sparks into great food and drink recommendations. I’m big into the local food and drink scene.
TIP 2: When possible, I would always try to take in some fresh air each day. Personally, I’m big on riding my bicycle. That gives me a great chance to catch some of each city and get a little workout in.
TIP 3: Keep a list of quotes. I love people so much, and most of the valuable things that I have learned in life have come from all sorts of different people that are super different than I am. This diversity always pleasantly informs perspective, for me. I have a folder on my phone dedicated to the quotes of these different people and the quotes that helped my perspective grow.
TIP 4: Listen. The best tip I could ever give for any type of tour is to focus on making space for others to speak. Even if you have something good to offer in a conversation, try first to understand where people are coming from and then offer your perspective, if it’s helpful.
TIP 5: Cook. The best part of the tours I’ve been on is when we’ve cooked together. Usually, that’s just a little grilling. It doesn’t have to be fancy, but it’s always brought everyone together and made it feel a little like home.
