In this Dream Tour segment, the metal artist, DiGregorio, reveals who she would want on her ultimate tour lineup. You can check out her picks, after the break.
For the longest time, I actually avoided Heavy Metal in all its forms. However, that one fateful day while looking for “bands that sound like Porcupine Tree” I stumbled upon Within Temptation. Ironically, Within Temptation sounds nothing like Porcupine Tree. Not even a little.
But that’s OK because I actually really enjoyed what I was hearing. The juxtaposition of a silky-smooth, classically-leaning soprano over pounding drums and driving guitars had me at the word “Porcupine Tree”…sort of… And because Within Temptation was my gateway drug into the world of Metal, they would absolutely need to be part of the dream tour.
The next act on tour would be none other than Tarja Turunen. I missed all the Nightwish drama, but I did catch “My Winter Storm” and everything after. The woman can sing. And having seen her play live several times, she puts on one heck of a show. More than that, it’s easy to see how much time and effort she puts into her music. To listen to her entire discography is to hear someone hit their stride. Every album is better than the last and her singing improves with age.
Of all of my favorite Symphonic Metal bands, Epica probably does the best at having their own unique sound and style. Blending elements of Classical, Progressive Rock, and Metal with incredible flair, Epica is easily one of the most epic bands around right now. Put that together with the absolutely amazing show they put on and it’s a no-brainer!
