DRÆMINGS – TOUR TIPS

In this Tour Tips segment, the creature pop band, DRÆMINGS, give you their tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

Kimi: Find the humor in everything. Things get rough on the road; the van will break down, the venue will suck, no one will show up, the hotel will be shady + filled with creeps…At the end of everything, you have to see the humor in it all and just laugh + make the best of it.
Nathaniel: Listen to audiobooks in the tour bus with the band! You probably have similar music tastes to your bandmates but there’s nothing worse than wishing you could move on to something else and risk offending a friend about something they’re obviously passionate about. If you mix in some music but keep an audiobook going you can all enjoy, you’ll have a great point of reference and a good bonding experience with the band. Plus you may get some trippy song writing ideas!
Thorson: Try to appreciate how special it is to get to travel for a living, and don’t take it for granted. Getting to see other parts of the world, and to see how differently people live is a treasure that lots of people don’t experience. We all share the same Earth–traveling is one of the richest ways to learn empathy and to begin to identify with the struggles that other people face in their lives. Ultimately, the art that we choose to make should pay back that debt of empathy.
Christopher: Stretch, sleep when you can, and eat well. Your body is going to be sitting down for long periods of time. Any rest breaks make sure to get up and have a dance party with the band to keep everyone active. When the body doesn’t get blood flow, rest, or food, moods go from hero to zero. This can compromise inner-band relations on tour. Stay active, stay joyful, and slay the game.
Nathaniel: Never get in a fight in a Portland strip club where one of the dancers has a tattoo of David Lynch’s Eraserhead on her right arm cause a guy asked you and the tour photographer for a cigarette and you told him you didn’t have any in kind of a smart aleck way so he dissed your band after which you told him to say that again outside after which he said it again outside. You’ll get kicked out of said strip club. Believe me.

Keep up with the band on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
