In this Dream Tour segment, the singer-songwriter, Drew Schueler, reveals who he would want on his ultimate tour lineup. You can check out their picks, after the break.
For those who know me, this will not come as a shock, but my dream tour would absolutely be stadium shows with Coldplay and Ed Sheeran, and I’d be the opener.
Both of these artists are about as successful as humanly possible but that isn’t why it would be a dream tour for me. Both Coldplay and Ed Sheeran have changed, shaped, and helped me grow into the writer and artist I am today.
They both find a way of utilizing incredibly elegant stories with beautiful melodies in a way that few can do. They are masters of taking something personal and presenting it in a way that is universal. Masters of artfully creating a musical landscape that is emotive even without words. Truly authentic, and it’s evident. They are my two favorite musical artists now and have been for years.
I saw Ed Sheeran perform in Nashville a few years ago and it completely left me in awe. One man with a loop pedal, thoroughly entertained an entire arena. That is the power of amazing songwriting and raw talent.
I have not seen Coldplay live (yet) but I’ve seen so many videos of their live performances, which are equally as breathtaking. I can never forget the video where the audience is all screaming the ‘ooooh’ section of ‘Viva La Vida’. Or watching the crowd go crazy during the bridge of ‘Fix You’.
Those are true artists in the realest form imaginable. I want the music I make to speak to people the way their music has spoken to me.
