As a band that’s just starting to introduce ourselves to the world, a lot of factors go into creating our dream tour. We want to play with bands that we love, but more importantly, acts that we can learn something from. And of course, we’d want our sounds to intersect in the right ways to gain some new fans along the way.
The first band that comes to mind is The Avett Brothers. We’ve been lucky enough to see them a few times and we’re just consistently blown away by their performance. It’s so genuine and heartfelt, every time. You’d think for the number of shows they do every year, some of the songs would feel like they’re just going through the motions, but they never do. Touring with them would basically be a master class in putting on a great show and a chance for us to hang with one of our favorite bands.
Our audiences may not align perfectly, but I’d love to tour with John Mayer. He’s the reason I stopped playing power chords when I learned the guitar. As a musician, you always dream about what it would be like to play alongside your heroes. Selfishly, that would be one of those dreams realized.
If we’re talking dream tour, we’re going to dream big. So let’s add Coldplay to the line-up. Evan has been a fan for as long as they’ve released music, and if you listen closely enough, you’ll hear how they find their way into our songs. They’ve also excelled in every genre they’ve attempted—and there’s been a few. As a band that hopes to evolve our sound with time, we really admire how Coldplay has been so successful while making every album so distinct. And clearly, if we’re touring with Coldplay, we’re doing pretty well.
