1. Use Priceline and Hotwire.com for hotels. Check hotwire.com on the lowest rate, then bid 20% less than that using Priceline “Name Your Own Price.”Betterbidding.com is also a great website to find out what deals people have gotten on Priceline and Hotwire.
2. Never rent a vehicle one-way. You’ll pay twice as much. Return it back to the original city even if you have to drive a day. It’s worth it.
3. Use the GasBuddy app for iPhone or GasBuddy.com to find the cheapest gas on the road. 10 cents per gallon over a few weeks in a van saves you a couple hundred bucks.
4. Do a combo deal on your merch. I’ve found this extremely effective. Example 1 CD for $12 or 2 for $20. People like saving money, and you like selling more merch. Win win.
5. Last but not least, if you’re fortunate enough to travel on a tour bus, or find yourself in one. This is the ultimate #1 rule of the music business. Don’t ever ever ever ever under any circumstances ever, drop a deuce in the tour bus toilet. Ever.
