I wake up to one new voice message…”I’m going to drop dead soon, I need this.” The next day Iggy Pop shows up at the airport naked from the waist up, skinny jeans, red lipstick smeared all over his face and one red heel on his left foot, because your lipstick always has to match your one heel. We fly to Berlin and head straight to Katerholzig where Wu-Tang Clan, The Clash, Lana Del Rey and The Killers have already arrived.
Joe Strummer walks up to every artist and insults them lovingly as if they were siblings. He gives them personally handmade cards telling them how much he loves them and how important they are to him. The Wu are playing chess while blazing the biggest blunts imaginable, Lana is warming up her voice while reading aloud The Shining, while The Killers and Faulkner are finishing up writing a new song together.
There are no set times, each artist picks one of the many smaller rooms at Katerholzig and everyone starts playing at the same time. “Lust For Life”, “Wu Tang Clan Aint Nuthin Ta F*ck Wit”, “Should I Stay or Should I Go”, “Revolutionary”, “When You Were Young” and “Born To Die” all blasting and blending together through the hallways. Total chaos erupts. The venue burns down. The tour gets canceled. Iggy Pop is found dead the day after next to Lana Del Rey. She’s still reading The Shining.
