When we were first starting out we were asked to do a filming for a show in Nashville. We were one of the many bands to perform and this is when we were still in our van and trailer days. We were on tour and we were supposed to just do a quick filmed performance and be back on the road. Well, hours and hours went by and we still hadn’t left Nashville and it was already 11:30 pm at night. We had a gig we were supposed to play the next day in Florida and we were getting ready to leave so we could make our show. The people from the network wanted to work something out so that we could perform on their show and still make our show in FL the next day. The network came up with an idea and presented it to us. They said they would pay for a driver to drive our van to FL and charter us a private jet. So we were like YEAH!!!!!!
We were relieved that we could play their show, sleep well, and get on a PRIVATE JET to fly to our show in style. We got to the airport in the morning and everyone took their seat and we were off. Not too far into the trip, we started to hit some turbulence, then it started getting really bad and it was pitch black outside. It turns out we were flying through not 1 but 4 tornadoes in GA. The pilot couldn’t get over the storm, so we were buckled in tight and we would do nose dives and our heads would hit the ceiling of the plane. We were so scared and thought this is how it ends and we all just couldn’t stop laughing. Maybe we were so nervous but we were uncontrollably laughing. We finally got through the storms and made it to FL and when we landed the pilot turned around to us and said that was the worst flight in 40 years he’d flown. Needless to say, we’ve never taken a private jet again.
