In this Tour Tips segment, the southern thrash metal band, Final Drive, give you their tips for being on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.
#1 Buy Gear Insurance you cheap bastard!
What means more to you than anything? That’s right your GEAR!! So fucking protect it already. Head on over to Musicproinsurance.com and get it done! Tell em Final Drive sent ya! Shit happens, thieves, weather, accidents all that stuff can have detrimental consequences on your gear. Don’t wait, if you’re on the road or even gigging locally protect your tools. We’ve seen the disaster happen way too often, don’t be a victim when a solution is right here and at a very affordable price!
#2 Watch your shit! AT ALL TIMES!
Going hand in hand with Tip #1, you still need to be on guard when touring. Be conscious of your surroundings, don’t leave your money, passports, computers or anything else of value in your van. I don’t care if you’re just going in to grab something to eat at your favorite shit food of choice, take your bag with you!!! When parking at venues, believe it or not, venues are the worst at providing an adequate parking spot, so choose your parking wisely and periodically check on your rig.
#3 Your tour Van/Trailer is not a billboard. (Unless you want to be robbed or you like being a target)
If a product is endorsing you and paying to wrap your rig with THEIR logo go for it, but don’t put your fucking band name on your van or trailer. There is zero value in this, sure your mom can say she saw you on the freeway but it’s only gonna cost you money and if a band name isn’t the biggest advertisement to rob you I don’t know what is. Put that money into some t-shirts, hit up BloodRedprints.com for the best custom screen printed apparel at the best price!!
#4 Get the Fuck out of town after your show!
The show’s over now get the fuck out! Sure if your aunt flow is putting you up at her gated estate go for it, otherwise don’t stick around the major cities overnight. I highly suggested getting on down the road to a Flying J or if you have to hotel it, go out of the major areas to reduce the risk of theft. Safest bet sleep in the van or designate one member to do so if your sleeping over at a house. Just be conscious of your surroundings, I think we’re developing a pattern here…..
#5 Stay for the whole show!!
If you can’t be bothered with staying the whole time at your show, yes the WHOLE time, how do you expect anyone else to? Yeah yeah, I get it, everyone’s busy, so busy, too busy to support your fellow musicians! At this level we all need as much help as we can get and if your too fucking busy to show the rest of the bands common courtesy and stick around to watch their set, hang it up, stay the basement because that’s no way to be and you’ll never make it, this industry is all about relationships, remember that. You never know what might happen, who you’ll meet or what might inspire you. Stay, drink some PBR’s, sell some tees, hang with your fellow people. If you don’t have tees, hit up BloodRedprints.com and get stocked up!!!
Keep up with the band on Facebook!
