FinleyKnight – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

This crazy story from the road was written by the indie rock duo, FinleyKnight, about when they toured South America. You can check out the band’s story, after the break.

In April and May of 2012, FinleyKnight toured South America.

Connor and I were gearing up for our first set in Bell Ville, Argentina. We had brought a limited amount of equipment to ease the traveling from Chicago. Keep in mind, we barely speak any Spanish, and we weren’t even positive that our shows existed.

At first, we had used Google Translate to try to book venues. No body responded to us. Luckily, we connected to a manager of an Argentinian band to help us set up a full tour. We had to use Google Translate to talk with him, and we were not sure what we were getting into until we arrived.

Even on the plane down to Argentina, Connor turned to me and asked if I truly believed we had a full tour set up. I assured him that Arteyes (our new Argentinian manager) would not let us down. Sure enough, we showed up to the first venue, and a giant sign was hanging out front that read “Desde Estados Unidos FinleyKnight.” We were stunned.

The real adventure began during soundcheck though. We plugged in our gear for the first time, and we had overlooked an extremely important detail; the voltage in South America is different than in the US. We turned on our keyboards, and immediately, one of them starting smoking, and then lit on fire.

However, it turned out that the show, and tour was a huge success. Thank you Arteyes.
