Everyone remembers their first concert. I was obsessed with Ed Sheeran while growing up, I was listening to his songs over and over again and annoying everyone around me with my persistence, I guess. My family surprised me with tickets for his first concert in Romania, which was to take place in Bucharest, on the 3rd of July, 2019. You have to understand what a dream come true that was for me. I live in a small town, basically in the middle of nowhere. And I come from a country where concerts with huge stars don’t happen that often. So, yeah, I couldn’t wait to travel to our capital to see Ed.
Bucharest is 7 hours away from my town. I left very early to arrive on time with my parents and my best friend. I was going through such weird emotions on the road, just like a kid going to meet her long-awaited idol. I don’t know, it was like I was the one who was about to walk on stage.
When I arrived, I went straight to a coffee shop, I was really tired from the long road. Being very agitated and careless, I accidentally spilled all the coffee on my white dress. Needless to say, I had a small nervous breakdown. Looking back, I was definitely the epitome of a proper teenager who loses her mind.
I made sure I was there very early, to get to my area in due time. I had to go through the whole security check, of course, which took some time, considering it was a 50.000 people concert. I remember they made me throw away the bag of chips I brought along to the show. Those were the premium, expensive kind, but, what to do.. anything for Ed.
I managed to get to my place in time; after a very nice opening show from James Bay, my long-awaited moment arrived…. The lights dimmed. Dry ice filled the stage. Everyone started screaming. He really delivered to the fans an exceptional concert. I was impressed by the amount of emotions he expressed during the show. It was such a lesson for me, what one man can do only with his voice and a guitar. He performed a sublime show without a band, dancers, choreography, costumes, and so on. Everyone was singing along to their favorite songs, it was so nice to see how much happiness live music can bring to people. The whole time I was singing too and, basically, living my teenage dream, in the wise words of Katy Perry.
It was an unforgettable night and the concert was really up to my expectations. I’m not gonna lie, I went through a lot of mood changes throughout the show. This is what an artist should be able to do: make the public feel. That’s what I hope my music will do as well. To continue my teenage dream, I hope that one day I will be able, through my music, to make an entire stadium feel.
