Franz Ferdinand’s 2013 U.S. Tour – REVIEW

I had the pleasure of attending Franz Ferdinand’s sold out show at The Vic thois past Thursday night. With them was American vocalist, Frankie Rose.

Frankie Rose is a four piece group that I can see making it big. They were a perfect fit to open up for Franz Ferdinand. I highly suggest checking out their music if you haven’t already. Give a listen to “Sorrow”, “Night Swim”, Know Me”, or even “Street of Dreams”. Frankie also had the crowd chuckling with her quirkiness and banter with them.

With this being the first time I have seen Franz Ferdinand live, I didn’t know what to expect. They surprised me though, by even though being an older group, on stage, their energy is through the roof. Between all the kick jumps, going on top of speakers, legs going in the air, I expected their pants to rip at least. They made sure the crowd’s energy matched theirs by playing songs that got people moving such as “Evil Eye”, “Take Me Out”, “Do You Want To”, “Ulysses”, “No You Girls Never Know”, “Walk Away”, “Can’t Stop Feeling”, “This Fire”, “Goodbye Lovers and Friends”, “Love Illumination”, and many more. At one point during the set, the whole band was playing drums and rhythmically pounding it at the same time. It was something so simple yet beautiful to see. After the set, they all came to the front of the stage and held hands as they took a bow. There’s something in that move that I love when bands do. It just shows how connected they are and them bowing to the fans, I love it. It’s more than just a band finishing a set and walking off stage.

If you ever get the chance to see Franz Ferdinand live, I would say take that chance. They are really something to see.
