From Hollow Veins – CRAZY TOUR STORIES

In this Crazy Tour Stories segment, the post-hardcore band, From Hollow Veins, talk about some of their crazy moments from touring. You can check out the feature, after the break.

So, we were in Dearborn, Michigan, playing at an indoor skatepark. The show was awesome, great turnout, but also very memorable for this particular incident. After our set, we were watching the band that took us out on tour, both our guitarists were in the crowd, our bassist was outside in the van relaxing, I don’t know where our vocalist was, and I was sitting up on one of the skating ramps. I got a pretty good view of everything.

The singer of the band we toured with was noticeably gay, in how he sang and moved on stage. There was this hillbilly looking dude in the crowd who was just being a complete dick and making fun of him by like mocking his stage presence and calling out homophobic slurs. Our guitarist, Nick just kept getting angrier and angrier, while our other guitarist was trying to calm him down, saying it’s not worth it. However, this other gentleman who went to a lot of shows in that area said, if you take a swing at him, I will gladly back you up, we’ve all had it with this guy. Finally, Nick just goes for him. Nick takes a swing, guy charges towards him when Roberto, the other guitarist who didn’t wanna get involved just got right in the middle and said “BACK THE FUCK UP MAN.” It’s a complete brawl down, and EVERYONE got involved. Mind you, me sitting far away from everybody, I had no idea what was going on! From my perspective, all I see is this guy making an idiot out of himself, and the next thing I know my guitarist is just going at him, and the whole thing just erupts right before my eyes!

After it all settled down, Nick became a complete hero. Everyone kept saying, “You have no idea how long we’ve wanted someone to do that, but nobody had the guts!” The attention we got because of that was incredible.
