Further Seems Forever – TOUR PRANKS

In this Tour Pranks segment, Chad Neptune of the indie rock band, Further Seems Forever, shares some pranks that have happened on tour. You can check out the feature, after the break.

So life on the road requires a great sense of humor and incredibly thick skin. Pulling pranks on fellow band mates and crew is right of passage and necessity. In our time in FSF, we must have pranked each other in various manors over the years. Some very simple (but effective) like hiding someone’s valuables or a running into a truck stop bathroom and peeing on the toilet seat so one certain guitar player couldn’t go #2. There was the time our merch guy wrapped himself in toilet paper and wondered the halls of our hotel and proceeded to wake up our drummer to no avail. The Prank I am going to tell you about may, however, be one you just had to be there for, but I will try and explain it anyway.

It was a cold winter night I believe the night before we were supposed to meet our bus before Warped Tour in Minneapolis. We were staying with Jason’s parents and our tour manager Chuck “Chooch” Andrews was absolutely exhausted from dealing with the likes of us all day. Being that we had the day off what were we to do but pick on the guy who was sleeping? Well, Jason’s little sister had a huge collection of the most creepy dolls you have ever seen. There must have been like 30 of these things. So, we took these dolls and stood them up all around Chooch like 3 rows deep. It really looked like there was some weird doll ceremony going on. We even hung them over his head. This was before camera phones and all that cool technology. So we had a video camera and we were trying to film a video intro and this whole elaborate thing, but we could not stop laughing. The whole time Chooch is just passed out. Then, while we were trying to film, Chooch rolled over and saw the dolls and jumped out of his skin. To this day, that image still brings a smile to my face.
