We sat down and discussed this, it did get out of hand, but I think after much debacle we did make somewhat of a conclusion. Since this is a “Dream Tour” we will be resurrecting a few folks for the night.
To kick us off, Daft Punk will start and play Instant Crush (personal fave), then, next thing you know, Prince will walk on stage, play in his cloud suit from the Raspberry Beret music video, all his classics will be combined with Daft Punk’s, and magic will be made.
Jack didn’t really have to say anything for his choice because I could pretty much guess it- Aussie band Parcels definitely play on this bill. Jack will be front and centre just smiling the entire time. Even if Parcels didn’t make any sound, they look so cool, I personally would be happy just to stare.
One of Lewis’ favourite local Sydney bands, Wartt Gunn take the stage. They blow everyone away with their absolutely insane stage show. We back Sydney music hard, so it seems pretty natural for us to have these guys play- plus they’re genuinely sick musicians.
Blondie!!! A very typical choice by me, I’m side stage the whole time, mouth wide open. They open with Hanging On The Telephone and close with Call Me, by the end of the set I’m most likely dead. Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads) also makes an appearance during the set and they do a version of Psycho Killer- enough said. Debbie Harry is easily one of my biggest influences, she has amazing vocals, and her wardrobe is pretty impeccable too.
Oasis make a resurgence, Joe has chosen their setlist for them, no questions asked, the classics are played and everyone cries and spills beer on each other as Wonderwall ends. After the show, we try to be as cool as the Gallaghers and it doesn’t work, so we stick to frothing at this point (Joe is having a mild anxiety attack).
Nirvana closes the night, punk jumps are on a high, James is air-drumming hard. As the night comes to a close, Kurt Cobain is as incredible as ever. We hug everyone a gazillion times and share a wine.
