The guitarist, Tyler Riley, of the hardcore metal band, Gideon, lets you know what bands he’s most excited to see on Warped Tour this summer. You can check out his picks, after the break.
Sum 41 – This band was a favorite of mine when I was growing up, and yet I never saw them play. I used to learn their songs on guitar, and their music definitely pushed me in the direction that led to me playing in bands myself. So I’m looking forward to finally seeing them!
Yellowcard – Yellowcard had the same effect on me as Sum 41. They made it look fun. I probably wouldn’t be playing in a band if it weren’t for these bands, along with some others.
Atreyu – Without a doubt, this band was part of the soundtrack to my early care-free touring days. I’m stoked to recapture some of those high school summer break touring feels haha.
Hail the Sun – They have a sick semi techy post hardcore thing that I’ve always enjoyed. There’s a little bit of The Fall of Troy, Boys Night Out, and Circa Survive feel going on. Whether intentional or not, they’re all elements that I like a lot. Also, I’m not sure how the drummer sings so well while playing what he plays, but it’s very impressive.
Old Wounds – They’re the heaviest band on warped. A breath of fresh air for heavy hardcore/metal fans at Warped. They’ll be the best band to go see to cleanse your pallet between your favorite pop-punk sets, too! Good band.
