The vocalist, Ann Courtney, of the pop rock band, Mother Feather, lets you know what bands she’s most excited to see on Warped Tour this summer. You can check out her picks, after the break.
The Pink Slips
I was so excited to see these guys got added to the west coast Warped dates. The Pink Slips are carrying the torch for some of my favorite ferocious female-fronted Washington state bands from the 90’s like Bikini Kill and Hole. Grave McKagan writhing in stage blood?! WHERE DO I SIGN?
Bad Seed Rising
This was one of the first bands that caught my eye on the Warped lineup, mainly because of Franchescka Pastor’s powerhouse vocals. I’m going to try to play it cool and not fangirl out on her too hard, but I’m really excited to meet these guys and see them perform! It’s incredible that they are so young and have already been at it for so long. They epitomize everything that makes great pop punk—undeniable hooks, speedy riffs, and explosive energy.
I have a major soft spot for music from the Twin Cities so I was psyched (and not at all surprised) to learn that PROF is from Minneapolis. His shows look absolutely bonkers and I’m excited for rapper who can burn it down on Warped Tour. I’m working on getting myself suspended so I can spend summer school with PROF!
Against the Current
These guys put the POP in pop rock—they clearly have so much reverence for a chorus, which I appreciate. Chrissy Costanza’s voice is amazing and I’m really looking forward to seeing these guys do their thing live.
If you needed any more evidence of the incredible spectrum represented by Metal Blade, look no further than the two bands from the label playing Warped this summer (Whitechapel + US!). Clearly Brian Slagel is a mad genius with unequivocal taste. Bring a helmet.
