GOSPORT – SPRINGTIDE FESTIVAL – SUMMER ’16
There is a light breeze in the outdoor area of Springtide Festival. The resonant high end of an acoustic guitar can be heard from a tent in the distance, laughter can be heard from children and adults alike as the sun begins to set on this beautiful summer’s evening…
Skip ahead 8 hours and we were almost arrested for trespassing on private property.
After our set at Springtide ’16 (headlined by our pals in Youth Club & Little Comets), we decided to get on the beers, as we were staying in Gosport for the night. Once the festival was over, tanked up and ready for a big night out, we jumped in a cab (with some plastic glasses full of lager) and hit the town. Emma’s was the name of the club. Sweaty, loud and far too crowded is how we remember it being inside. It was 3am and Alf decided to call it a night because he was the mug who had to drive everyone home the following day.
Alf jumped in a cab & took the 20-minute journey from the club to the hotel without a hitch. He paid the driver, approached the main entrance to the hotel to be greeted by a locked door and absolutely no lighting through the windows. Alf panicked and took his phone out of his pocket to call Jake and Grant who were still at the club. His phone was dead. Awful. He started walking into the night, guided by nothing but the faint sound of traffic in the extremely far distance.
Back at the club, Jake, Grant & our pal, Brad decided to order a cab themselves, it was getting late and they hadn’t heard from Alf. They arrived at the hotel only to find themselves in the same situation, they couldn’t get hold of Alf. It was an absolute disaster. They called another cab and decided they’d head back to the venue in which the festival was held earlier.
Whilst in the cab, they heard a transmission meant for the driver from another cab…
“I’ve just dropped a bloke from London at the Springtide venue”
“IT’S ALFIE” – the boys screamed, “TAKE US THERE!”
The boys pulled up to find Alfie attempting to scale the very tall stone walls surrounding the complex. They all embraced and cried a little and then began to stage a plan to break in and sleep in Alf’s car (which was locked in the car park)
They began to climb the huge stone wall, when a police officer pulled up, blue lights and all. He questioned the boys, who explained the situation – “I’ll have none of that, now come to the station!” (He never really said that he just got back in his car and went on his way)
The boys managed to scale the walls and sleep in the car, a fiat stilo, with all of their equipment. We’re pretty sure the head of a guitar entered a part of Jake, but we don’t talk about that.

Keep up with the band on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram!
